The Waterside Center, across East State Street from the Register Star news tower, is located in Downtown Rockford along the banks of the beautiful Rock river
It captures the character and ambience of a time long past. Rockford only has one river running through it and the Waterside Center is one of the premier downtown riverside locations. The City and Park District’s beautiful landscaping surround the building with the spectacular Millennium Fountain next to the building on the north and a peaceful park setting adjacent to the southern side of the building.
Today it is one of the anchors of the economic revitalization of the downtown.Twenty growing businesses call Waterside Center home, including Mike White, owner of the Waterside Center since 1984. It is also the headquarters for his business enterprise.
Built in 1879, the building was renovated from 1979 to 1982 to it’s original grandeur with its twelve foot high ceilings, tall windows and a large 3 story, glass roofed atrium. A 32 foot mural depicting the history of Rockford graces the south atrium wall.
